Do you want your family's future better secured? If so, join the Family Protection Fund (FPF) to give yourself and your family more protection for contingencies. The FPF, administered with the assistance of Personnel Services & Staff Relations (PS&SR) Branch, is an insurance scheme tailor-made for officers at Inspectorate rank and above, as well as all civilian officers in the Force. It provides a maximum insurance protection of $500 000 in the event an insured officer dies whilst in service or suffers from varying degrees of permanent disability caused by accidents. The FPF will re-open for application from March 1 to 31 for those who have missed the opportunity to join the fund. After the deadline, only newly appointed officers will be eligible to join the scheme and they have to do so within the first three months of their service. For this re-opening exercise, each new member has to pay $600 as admission fee. A cheque for this sum, together with the application form, should be sent to the Secretariat of Family Protection Fund of PS&SR Branch. An FPF member has to make a monthly contribution to the fund from his or her monthly salary (1). The current monthly contribution rate is $50 (2). In addition, an FPF member who, has joined the fund for five years or more and is still a contributor at the time of retirement, is entitled to a retirement souvenir and a special grant of $5 000 to the spouse or dependant after death. For further details and application form, visit the PS&SR Branch website on POINT or call PS&SR Branch hotline 2860-3242. Notes: (1) Each application will be considered on its own merits by the Management Committee and the insurance company concerned. Membership will only be valid from the date when direct deduction of the monthly contribution is made from payroll through the Treasury. (2) The monthly contribution after July 2012 will be subject to the new insurance contract. |
