Since May 1998, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Force
have been taking turns to chair the meeting in the Mainland or Hong
Kong to discuss matters of mutual concerns.
This year, the MPS delegation comprised representatives from various
MPS bureaux, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, Shanghai,
Shenzhen and Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureaux, Police Liaison
Department under the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government
(LOCPG) in the HKSAR, and the Anti-smuggling Bureau under the General
Administration of Customs.
The Force delegation comprised senior officers from Crime Wing,
Operations Wing, Police College and Liaison Bureau.
At the bilateral meeting, both sides reported the crime situations in
the Mainland and Hong Kong and reviewed the achievements of
co-operation. Discussion also covered topics of mutual interest such as
police liaison, training exchange, public order management, border
control, criminal investigation, information security, cross-boundary
crimes, anti-narcotics and anti-terrorism. Both parties also
pledged to enhance co-operation and strengthen intelligence exchange in
areas of mutual concerns.
