NTN Region hosts year-end briefing |

With a view to strengthening the local community's understanding of its work, New Territories North (NTN) Region held a year-end briefing on February 24 for community leaders, including chairmen of associations of heads of primary and secondary schools and parent-teacher associations; chairmen and committee members of District Fight Crime Committees; chairmen of the District Councils; and District Officers. At the briefing hosted by Regional Commander Chau Kwok-leung, Deputy Regional Commander So Kam-sing summed up the situation of police work in the preceding year and introduced NTN Region's operational priorities for this year. NTN Acting Senior Superintendent Crime Choy Wai-fu spoke on the crime trend last year, and highlighted the 2.4 per cent and 3.7 per cent decreases in violent crime and drug related crime respectively, as well as a detection rate of 44.4 per cent. NTN Senior Superintendent Traffic Ng Wing-kai introduced the strategies of tackling illegal road racing and drink driving, while officers of the Traffic and Operations Wings of NTN spoke on new equipment and tactics. In conclusion, Mr Chau, emphasising that successful implementation of police strategies relied heavily on the support of the general public, thanked his guests for their support in the past year. He looked forward to working closely with them in the years ahead to make the NTN Region a safe place to live and work. ![]() |
