Appreciation Corner (1)

Dear Sir,

I want you to know how much I appreciated the help of your airport officers on January 18.

I had gotten out of a red taxi and accidentally left my wallet behind on the back seat. In my wallet were credit cards, my airline identification, and cash. While I still had my passport and tickets, I thought the rest were gone forever.

After we checked in at Cathay Pacific, my wife said we should go and check with the airport police. So about 20 minutes later, that's what we did. I spoke to the desk officer (SPC 50766) about what had happened. He made a phone call and then asked what colour my wallet was. I told him it was black. He said just wait for 10 or 15 minutes.

About 5 minutes later two officers (PC 8034 and PC 8233) showed up with my wallet and the cab driver. The cab driver had found the wallet and drove it all the way back to the airport! I was so surprised and happy that this fine, honest man had great integrity to return my wallet with everything still there. I gave him a big hug and also a good size reward for him for being so nice. I wish there was some way I could write and express my appreciation to the cab driver for his kindness to a foreigner.  If you are able to send me his email or address I would appreciate being able to say thank you again in writing.

I also wish to express my appreciation to the police officers whose names I do not know but whose badge numbers I have included above.  Their superiors should know the officers did a fine job and for that I am thankful.  They were not only professional but they were compassionate too.

Sincerely,
J. Beede

(Editor's note: The officers mentioned in this letter are PCs Lau Woon-shun, Wong Chun-fai and Mok Tsz-pan, all from PSU 4 APTDIST)
