||
Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) is dedicated to engaging the community and has been encouraging the community to support the police in fighting crime. Every year, WTSDIST stages a road show in different area to publicise its Action Plan and the work of various units. The road show not only gives the local community a better picture of police duties and strengthens police-community communication, but also offers a good opportunity to disseminate fight crime messages to the community, promotes campaigns on youth education and enhances public awareness of crime prevention. WTSDIST launched the first road show of 2012 outside Ngau Chi Wan Market on March 24, with Assistant District Commander (Operations) Chan Kwok-kee officiating. On hand to back up the event were Wong Tai Sin District Councillor, Mr Mok Chung-fai; Chairman of Wong Tai Sin (East) Area Committee, Mr Kwong Yun-wah, and Elderly Fight Crime Ambassadors and Youth Fight Crime Ambassadors. Besides an exhibition on the duties of Rural Area Patrol Team, District Traffic Team, police dog handlers and youth activities, police dogs and motorcycles attracted many members of the community. At the same time, the Fight Crime Ambassadors helped distribute crime prevention leaflets to the community. In the road show, a Police Community Liaison Assistant, Hussain Yasmeen Begum, who is a Pakistani, caught a lot of attention with her fluency in Cantonese in answering questions on the culture of her country. In the views of many guests, the road show succeeded in strengthening police-community relation and promoting racial harmony. The guests also welcomed more similar events in the years to come. ![]() |
