Several members of the Police "Old Bill" Rugby team have volunteered to have their heads shaved bald to raise funds for St Baldrick's and the Hong Kong Children's Cancer Foundation. Senior Superintendent (SSP) David Grant, SSP Barry Smith, Chief Inspector (CIP) Peter Whitton, CIP John Carroll, and CIP Simon Southgate have all put their names down to be shaved bald during the annual St Baldrick's head shaving event, scheduled for April 24. "This is the third time I have taken part in this great event, and this year I have been able to recruit a few more charitable souls to join me," said Simon. "You can never be certain at our age that the hair will grow back, but that's a risk we are all willing to take," added Simon. Worthy of a special note is Sures Gurung, who is one of the youths who have come through the Operation Breakthrough programme. He has also volunteered to have his head shaved. Force members wishing to sponsor the guys can do so by sending a cheque payable to "Children's Cancer Foundation" to Simon, CIP Development & Support, Railway District. Official receipts will be issued. |
