For children of police officers to experience different cultures and explore the world, the Mainland and Overseas Summer Course Sponsorship Scheme of the Police Welfare Fund offers them subsidies to attend summer courses on the Mainland or overseas. A total of 83 places are available for application by officers up to the rank of Senior Superintendent on a proportional basis. The sponsored places and amount of subsidy are one place at a maximum of $1 000 (or 70 per cent of the course fee, whichever is the less) for SSP and SP; eight places at a maximum of $2 000 each for CIP, SIP and IP; and 74 places at a maximum of $3 000 each for Junior Police Officers. Applicant should be a serving Police Officer, and his or her child should be either blood related or legally adopted and has never been sponsored by the scheme. If both parents are Police Officers, only one of them may apply for the nominee. A child should be aged above 12 and below 21. Parents and children can choose their own courses on the Mainland or overseas, except Macau and Taiwan, subject to the endorsement of the Force. The course programme should generally be held in the period between June and August, and organised by reputable institutions or organisations. General sightseeing tours or regular school programme will not be supported. Application form, obtainable from Force Noticeboard or Website of Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch (PS&SR), together with copies of the child's birth certificate and school reports for the academic year 2010-2011, including the Second Term, should be submitted either by hand or post to PS&SR Branch for the attention of EO SUP 2. The deadline of application is May 17. For details, refer to the announcement at Force Noticeboard or Website of PS&SR Branch. For enquires, call the Branch's Hotline at 2860-3200. |
