KW Region video contest reiterates importance of frontline units

The award presentation ceremony of the first-ever "Kowloon West Region Thematic Video Clip Competition to Reiterate the Importance of Frontline Units" was held at Police Sports and Recreation Club on April 2. Kowloon City District (KCDIST) was the big winner in the competition snapping up four out of six awards.

For their productions, some participating teams had invited their traffic warden partners, friends and families, and residents to participate in video shooting as actors or actresses. An 80-year-old Kowloon City resident, Ms Cheung Wan-yau, won the best actress award, adding a personal touch to the production.

Acknowledging the talents, dedication, and hard work put in by 11 teams comprising a total of 120 officer to produce 11 video clips, Senior Superintendent (Administration, Kowloon West) Pang Shu-hung, who was Chairman of the working group for the competition, had invited Regional Commander Kowloon West Fan Sik-ming, Dr Lo Wai-luk, Professor of the Department of Cinema & Television of Baptist University, and Police College Force Training Officer Yip Kai-hung to pick six award winners.
 
"It was my honour to participate in such a meaningful event", said Dr Lo at the award presentation ceremony. "As an expert in filming, I'm totally amazed by the talents of police officers in producing these near-professional videos. As an ordinary citizen, I really feel the people in Hong Kong are in good hands as the characters depicted in these videos have truly convinced me that the men and women in the Hong Kong Police Force are professionals who will go the extra mile in serving the community," Dr Lo added.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Mr Fan emphasised the importance of the Force Strategic Directions in boosting the capabilities of officers and supporting frontline units in meeting the challenges posed by an ever-changing society.

Through participation in the competition, officers gained friendship and shared esprit-de-corps, and successful drove home the key message of "Reiterating the Importance of Frontline Units".

KCDIST won the Championship with film titled "K C Brothers". The second and third places went to Traffic Kowloon West with clip titled "Nobody is to be left out" and Sham Shui Po District with "Partnership" respectively. In addition, KCDIST also won the Most Active Participating Unit title. PC Ko Hoi  and Ms Cheung Wan-yau clinched the Best Actor and Best Actress awards respectively.
