Five new records set in Police Athletics Championships

The Police Athletics Championships 2012 held at Wan Chai Sports Ground on April 12 saw five new Force records set when over 300 officers from various Formations competed in 42 events.

The new records were achieved by four officers, with Superintendent Andy Naylor placing his name twice on the record board for 10 000m (Master) in 34 min 36 sec and 1 500m (Master) in 4 min 28.16 sec. Police Constable (PC) Lai Hok-yan broke his own record for 1 500m (Senior) in 4 min 30.9 sec and PC Chan Man-for finished 800 (Senior) in 2 min 10.61 sec. In the field event, PC Kwok Tsz-ching set a new record in High Jump (Female) at 1.46m. 

PC Cheung Hin won the Victor Ludorum for the Overall Winner of the Game (Male), with 22 points while PC Pang Kwai-lai clinched the Victrix Ludorum for the Overall Winner of the Game (Female) at 25 points again this year.

In the 4 X 100 Major Formation Challenge, Police College won the trophy in 55.6 sec. Counter Terrorism Response Unit edged out all Specialist/Training Units to take the Championship at 139 points. Regional Headquarters New Territories North won the Other Formations Championships at 81 points.

Police Athletics Club (PAC) Chairman Lam Man-wing has thanked all senior officers for their support for the athletic meet, including Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung who presented medals and trophies to winners. Mr Lam also thanked all volunteers, including those from Police Referees Club, Auxiliary Medical Services, Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, and Wan Chai Sports Ground.

The next PAC event will be the Henry Shield Relay Race 2012 later this year. Registration will open in August.
