Yuen Long Shap Pat Heung and Ping Shan Heung jointly staged the annual Yuen Long Tin Hau Festival Parade 0n April 13. Entering its 50th Anniversary, the parade drew a record 40 teams comprising around 4 800 people.

In view of the unprecedented scale of this year's event, preparation began as early as six months before the event and many meetings and site visits were conducted involving the Uniform Branch, Crime Section and Traffic Team of Yuen Long District (YLDIST), other government departments, and stakeholders, including parade organisers.

The parade took place on a hot and humid day, with as many as 8 000 spectators lining both sides of the parade route. Thanks to the efforts made by the Crime and Traffic New Territories North, Police Tactical Unit, Quick Reaction Force, and Auxiliary Police, all traffic control and crowd management measures were conducted smoothly, ensuring public safety and minimising inconvenience to the general public. The success of the event underscored not only officers' professionalism and devotion to duty, but also the importance of a multi-agency approach and community engagement to the police in carrying out their duties.

During the dragon and lion dance parade, villagers accosted police officers maintaining order on the spot to show appreciation for their hard work under the scorching sun.  As a token of her appreciation, Ms Pang Yuk-lan, the person-in-charge of the Yuen Long Tai Shu Ha Tin Hau Temple, presented a miniature lucky windmill to Yuen Long Divisional Commander Lau Fung-ha for officers' contributions to the success of the parade.
