'Losing it for a great cause' |

On April 24, seven willing members of the Police "Old Bill" Rugby Team stepped up to the mark and volunteered to have their heads shaved to raise money for St Baldrick's and the Hong Kong Children's Cancer Foundation. Two Senior Superintendents (SSP), David Grant and B.J. Smith, four Chief Inspectors, John Carroll, Tobi Lothian, Peter Whitton, and Simon Southgate as well as Operation Breakthrough mentee, Sures Gurung, took their turns in the barber's chair and had their heads shaved bald. The team worked hard to promote the great work of the aforementioned charities, and managed to raise the impressive amount of $150 000. SSP Grant tried to convince the audience after the shaving that he was actor Bruce Willis, but few people were fooled and there were not many requests for his autograph. "The guys did an amazing fund-raising job, and the final figure far exceeded our expectations," said Simon. The "Old Bill" hopes to make this an annual event, and will be actively recruiting more volunteers to join next year's event.
