Sticker reminds officers of workplace safety
Building on the success of an earlier initiative to raise awareness of safety at the workplace, the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division is introducing the idea of an OSH sticker to be placed on all mirrors throughout the Force.
Superintendent (OSH Support) Peter Donohue commented: "Everyone knows the Commissioner has overall responsibility for occupational safety and health but the fact that each of us has a responsibility for his or her own safety is less known."
The sticker initiative will be rolled out in August when designated recipients in major formations will be asked to place the sticker on mirrors in briefing rooms, armouries, changing rooms, and toilet areas.
SP Donohue said: "Placing the stickers at these locations will give the message maximum exposure." "If the message helps reduce workplace accidents or more importantly saves just one person's life, then the initiative serves its most important purpose," he added.
