Deputy Commissioner (Management) Lee Ka-chiu led a Force delegation and visited the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region between July 15 and 22. He also officiated at the graduation ceremony for 80 Inner Mongolia Public Security Bureau (PSB) officers who completed a five-day course on tactics training conducted by Police College's Mobile Training Team at the Hulunbeier City Police Training Centre.

The Mobile Training Team, comprising Superintendent (Weapons Training) Chan Wing-leung, Chief Inspector Ng Kai-kwong, Senior Inspectors Chan Wai-hung and Tse Siu-ki as well as Sergeants Lee Siu-wah, Tse Ka-lung, Chan Wai-ming and Lam Chun-tung, offered tactics training to 80 local "seed instructors" at the Inner Mongolia Hulunbeier City Police Training Centre . The training covered a wide range of tactics such as the techniques commonly used by the Force in apprehending and overpowering suspects, searching vehicles and handling hostage situations.

For members of the Mobile Training Team, their trip was both a challenging and rewarding one. One of the officers sustained ankle injuries accidentally two days before departure from Hong Kong, but he continued to play an active role throughout the training course despite constant pain. As the venue of training was under renovation at the time of training, the team made a lot of adjustments within a short time to the training contents. With persistent efforts and professional coordination, the Mobile Training Team overcame all difficulties and won praises from both the trainees and senior PSB officers.

To show his support, Mr Lee visited the Mobile Training Team after officiating at the graduation ceremony on July 20. Besides expressing good wishes to the injured instructor, Mr Lee also commended the team members for their professionalism.

While in Inner Mongolia, Mr Lee met the Deputy Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region cum Party Secretary and Director of the Inner Mongolia Public Security Department, Mr Ma Ming, and shared experiences in matters of general policing and public security.

Mr Lee also led the Force delegation to various areas to visit police facilities, including command centres, border control points and forensics laboratories. During the visit, the delegation had discussions and exchanged experience with staff and commanders, and studied the local environmental protection measures as well as the cultures and special customs of the different ethnicities in the Autonomous Region.

Mr Zhou Liming, Second-in-Command of the Inner Mongolia Public Security Department, pointed out that the visit and training programme were very successful, and expressed appreciation of the professional performance of the Mobile Training Team. At the same time, the Head of the Department's Political Division, Mr Yao Yongbo, said the visit not only enhanced mutual understanding, but also set a good foundation for co-operation between the PSB and the Force.
