To arouse public awareness of combatting crime, such as quick cash crimes, Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) held a publicity campaign by distributing copies of a leaflet in MTRC stations and places frequented by tourists in Tsim Sha Tsui on June 21 to remind MTRC commuters and shoppers to take care of their belongings. Shop owners were also reminded of security for their shops.

Local community leaders also pitched in for the campaign when Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Chairperson, Mr Chan Siu-tong, Yau Tsim Mong District Councillor, Mr Hung Chiu-wah, and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) leaders, Mr Liaqat and the Chief IMAM of Kowloon Mosque distributed copies of a leaflet on quick cash crimes in MTRC stations and to the NEC community in Chung King Mansion and nearby areas. Joining the leaders were Acting YTDIST Deputy Commander Man Tat-shing, Chief Inspector Paul Gordon of Rail District, Tsim Sha Tsui Assistant Divisional Commander (Operation) Lam Hung-chuen and YTDIST Police Community Relations Officer M M Khan.
