Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) rolled out a Youth Care Programme on July 4 to conduct high profile patrols at places frequented by triads and youngsters during the school summer holidays. At the same time, Wong Tai Sin Police Community Relations Office and District Anti-triad Squad will join forces with local schools, Social Welfare Department and non-government organisations in encouraging students to take part in summer youth programmes and identifying students with problems at an early stage.

The programme commenced with Sai Kung Division hosting an Open Day at its station for schools, attracting over 100 secondary and primary school students. The students' visit started with talks on dangerous drugs, Internet crime and summer youth traps, given by officers of the School Liaison Team and the District Special Duty Squads. Touring   the station, the students showed a great interest in the report room, temporary holding area and other facilities.

Kowloon East Traffic Team, Police Dog Unit and Kowloon East Emergency Unit also set up counters in the station compound to introduce their work and equipment.

A host of other activities will be organised for young people under the programme, including an Anti-cyber Crime Colouring, Slogan Creation and Cartoon Drawing Competition and an anti-cyber crime publicity project, 'Smart E-generation', to make young people more aware of cyber and Internet crimes. From August 13 to 17, Junior Police Call members will visit Malaysia to study the ecology and environmental protection there.
