The award presentation ceremony of the inter-school competition on crime prevention posters design and video production organised by Kowloon East (KE) Regional Crime Prevention Office was held at Kwun Tong Community Centre on July 4, attracting about 200 guests.

The competition aimed at encouraging the community to take part in, and making young people more aware of, crime prevention. Each competition category offered awards for the champion and two runners-up. In addition, there were ten merit awards for the poster design category.

A total of 100 secondary schools in Kowloon East took part in the competition with posters or videos carrying messages of fighting burglary, pickpocketing, theft and cyber crime.

Senior Superintendent Eugene Yue of Crime Kowloon East officiated at the presentation ceremony before a large gathering of guests, including Mr Chow Yiu-ming, Chairman of Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Yeung Chee-tat, Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committee, and Mr Lau Wai-cheung, Chairman of Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Yue hoped young people, through participation in the competition, would enhance their discipline, confidence and sense of responsibility towards society, adding that this would help achieve the ultimate objective of social stability.
