The Road Safety Team of Traffic Kowloon West (RST T KW) has implemented a West Kowloon School Road Safety Improvement Project to improve the traffic condition in the well-known "School Village" in Sham Shui Po, in support of Commissioner's Operational Priorities for 2012.

The project is a multi-agency approach to investigate local traffic conditions and collect the views of stakeholders so as to design safe routes for students and school buses. RST T KW also organises promotional and educational activities to enhance students' knowledge and awareness of road safety, and to encourage them to take part in related promotions.

One of the activities, a road safety photography contest, drew many entries from students. Another promotional event known as "Starting from Teen" was held in the Hospital Authority Building, Kowloon City, on July 8. Among the guests were Dr Eric Cheng, Chairman of Road Safety Campaign Committee; Mr Benjamin Mok, Sham Shui Po District Officer; Mr Vincent Cheng, Chairman of Transport Panel of Sham Shui Po District Council; Mr Chow Chiu-san, Chairman of Sham Shui Po District Road Safety Campaign Committee; Mr Leung Ching-wah, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Road Safety Patrol (Kowloon West) and Kowloon West Regional Commander Fan Sik-ming. Winners of the photography contest were also presented with awards in the promotional event.
