A delegation of officers from Marine Region's Small Boat Division (SBDIV) paid a visit to New World First Ferry Services Limited (NWFF) on August 1 to lay the foundation for a long-term partnership between SBDIV and the local ferry operator.

The delegation, led by Superintendent (SP) Mark Anstiss, met the company's Director and General Manager, Mr Alex Choi, as well as senior operational and corporate communications staff to explore ways to enhance Marine Region's long-standing good relationship with a key member of the local maritime community.

SP Anstiss explained: "One of our most important jobs as Marine Police officers is to provide a fast and effective response to emergencies on board ships at sea. We're keen both to cement our existing relationship as well as to look at the ways to build regular vessel familiarisation and training and joint exercises with the ferry company into our annual training cycle." In response, Mr Choi said close collaboration was in the best interests of NWFF and, most importantly, the passengers, who would ultimately benefit from improved services.
