Road safety for school kids
There are 85 kindergartens and 56 primary schools in Kowloon City, and on each school day over 46,000 children are on the move. Most parents rely on domestic helpers to take their children to and from schools or kindergartens or to take part in extra-curricular activities.
In a bid to make the school children and their carers more aware of road safety, the Police Community Relations Office of Kowloon City District and the Road Safety Team of Traffic Kowloon West jointly organised a promotional event in June and July with the sponsorship of the Traffic and Transportation Committee of the Kowloon City District Council. The event came to a successful conclusion on July 19, having attracted a total of about 800 school children, parents and domestic helpers.
