The Police Recruitment Day 2012, a large-scale event organised by Recruitment Division, came to a successful conclusion on July 29 at Police Headquarters, attracting about 1,200 young applicants.

Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Ng Tsui Fung-ying and staff from Human Resources Branch, Chief Superintendent Cheung Ching and Senior Superintendent Joseph Tung, shared their work experience with potential applicants in three different seminars in a bid to enhance their understanding of the diversity and nature of police work.

Speaking of her experience as a young Inspector and the career path leading to her present rank, Mrs Ng told the audience that she had faced many challenges throughout her career but at the same time had derived enjoyment and satisfaction from her job. She stressed that policing is by no means an easy job, and encouraged potential applicants to get better equipped to face the challenges lying ahead.

Ms Cheung and Mr Tung also shared their police stories and work experience with the audience.  Ms Cheung pointed out that becoming a police officer meant taking on a commitment to serving and protecting the community, and called on potential applicants to contribute to the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. She added that the Force, as one of the best and professional police forces in the world, aims at attracting more candidates with a high calibre and enthusiasm, and would provide a lifelong learning environment to help them develop their potential.

The Police Recruitment Day provided a one-stop service to applicants for the posts of Probationary Inspector (PI) and Recruit Police Constables (RPC), including initial screening and scheduling of written examination for PI. For RPC, initial screening and group interview were conducted, shortening the selection process by at least three weeks.  Successful RPC applicants may start their foundation training at Police College as early as October this year.
