RC KW visits XRL site
Construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) is scheduled to complete in mid-2015. Reginal Commander Kowloon West (RC KW) Fan Sik-ming, Yau Tsim District Commander Cheung Kwai-kee and officers from Traffic KW paid a visit to the heart of the construction site at the West Kowloon Terminus on Austin Road West on July 31 to see whether there is any impact on the traffic and the people living around the area.
MTR staff explained how they removed the spoil using water transport in order to reduce the burden on the land traffic system. Police also took the opportunity to bring the message of preventing theft from construction site. The visit enhanced the relationship between police and MTR staff, paving a great stepping stone for future traffic management and crime prevention in the West Kowloon area where a number of large infrastructures are expected to come on stream.
