In a presentation ceremony held at Kai Tak Operational Base on July 13, two crime victims presented silver plates and tapestry banners to Senior Superintendent   (Crime) Kowloon East (KE) Eugene Yue and officers for cracking a case of armed robbery and another of theft and obtaining property by deception.

The first case occurred in Sai Kung in 2006 when the victim was chopped by two masked robbers with beef knives and robbed of $500,000. Subsequent to investigation by KE Regional Crime Unit Team 1A, the mastermind robber was arrested in August 2010, and eventually jailed for 12 years in the Court of First Instance for robbery.

In the second case, the Regional Intelligence Unit Team 1 and Regional Crime Unit Team 1B jointly carried out an intelligence-led operation last year, leading to the apprehension of two men for picking the wallets of customers in restaurants, using the stolen credit cards to purchase expensive electronic goods, and re-selling the goods. The two culprits were subsequently convicted of 12 counts of theft and obtaining property by deception in District Court and jailed for 57 and 28 months.
