More than 150 mentors and mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) joined a Summer Day Camp at Police College on August 12. Through a day of interesting activities and team-building programmes, the mentees developed friendship amongst themselve and strengthened their bonds with mentors. Recruitment Division organised the annual Summer Day Camp with the assistance of five PMP mentees. The camp comprised exercises and activities to develop the mentees' leadership skills, team spirit, communication skills and independent thinking. They also watched the professional police training at Police College during a tour of the Tactical Training Complex. The day camp reached a climax shortly after the arrival of the Head Mentor, Assistant Commissioner Chau Kwok-leung, and Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Ng Tsui Fung-ying. Addressing the mentees, Mr Chau said: "As PMP mentees, you should come to know that police work is meaningful and diverse. Police officers working in different units can fulfil their aspiration to serve the community. Although you have yet to join the Force, I believe all of you have the commitment to maintaining law and order in Hong Kong." Mr Chau also encouraged the mentees to develop their potential and equip themselves for taking up future challenges. Six former mentees who have joined the Force also participated in the programme. Probationary Inspectors Lau Hon-kwan, Tai Yuk-lun and Lai Hiu-ming, all currently under PI training, shared the excitement and challenges they experienced as a trainee, while Inspectors Ng Cheuk-fung, Yau ka-wai and Kwong Ho-ming told stories about their frontline job. The mentees were grateful to the mentors for their coaching. Through different activities they understood themselves better and are in a better position to work out their own plans and goals. ![]() |
