SSPODIST helps exchange students make adjustments |
||
Summer vacation is the peak season for overseas and Mainland exchange students to get prepared for their campus life in the City University of Hong Kong in Shamshuipo District (SSPODIST). Each year, about 2,000 exchange students from different countries come to study in Hong Kong. Most of the exchange students are coming to Hong Kong for the first time and they are not familiar with Hong Kong's laws and the duties and work of the Force. In view of this, SSPODIST visits the City University and organises seminars in English and Putonghua each year to introduce the local laws and police duties and work to the exchange students. On August 30, Inspector (IP) Wong Tik-ki from Shamshuipo Division and IP Lau Siu-ling from Cheung Sha Wan Division gave separate briefing sessions to over 200 overseas and Mainland exchange students respectively. After the sessions, the students raised many questions about police work and the relevant laws and exchanged views with the speakers. The briefing sessions aimed at giving the students a better idea of the problems they may come across in a new environment so that they would be able to make suitable adjustments for their studies in Hong Kong. ![]() |
