In line with Commissioner's Strategic Direction on "Supporting Frontline Units" and the Hong Kong Island Regional Communication Strategy, Central District (CDIST) set up  "Central TV " six months ago as an initiative to promote internal communication.

TV sets have been put up in CDIST Headquarters and Central Police Station to show photographs and videos of officers in action, their participation in sports, unit activities or other special events. "Central TV" supplements the conventional notice boards as a multi-media platform for internal communication. At the same time, it has enhanced officers' sense of belonging, esprit de corps and professional pride.

Led by the Assistant District Commander (Administration) Lillian Shek, a small production team formed by volunteers produces film footages and update contents every week to sustain officers' interest. Officers from different units also participate in the production by contributing quality videos and photographs of their activities.

"Central TV " has become an effective internal communication channel, with officers looking forward to the weekly updates. Building on this success, "Central TV" may be developed as an open and direct communication platform for unit commanders to brief officers on the concepts or strategies of the policing in CDIST. At the same time, frontline officers may express views or suggestions on their work through this channel.
