Nearly 300 runners and supporters turned up at the Aberdeen Reservoir Country Park for the Henry Shield Relay Race on October 9. The event proceeded smoothly under early autumn breeze and in a jovial atmosphere.

In this relay race, runners formed four-man teams, three-lady teams and three-former police officer teams to compete for eight categories of prizes. The runner for the 1st leg of each team took off when Western District Commander Lam Hiu-tong fired the gun to signal the start of the race.  Excited supporters from their formations and team members were on hand to show their massive support. Director of Operations Hung Hak-wai joined the supporters and later presented trophies to the winners.

Police Constable (Auxiliary) (PCA) Yip Tung-hoi from Eastern District (EDIST) captured the title of Men's Fastest Leg Open with a good time of 11 min 44 sec.  In Ladies Fastest Leg, PC Chan Wing-yin from Witness Protection Unit took the title with 16 min 33 sec. This year Eastern District also set a new record at 53 min 4 sec against the old one made in 1993.

The race went a long way towards promoting healthy lifestyle among officers and sportsmanship among the runners. Police Athletics Club Chairman, Mr Cheng Kwok-hung, thanked all helpers from Police Football Referee Club, Physical Training Instructors from Police College and PTU for their support and assistance for the race.
