The Police Mentorship Programme's Job Attachment Programme has entered the sixth year of operation. Mentees on attachment to different police formations during the summer vacation had assisted in running various short-term projects in different fields, i.e. research and review, organisation of activities, and information and technology. Thus they have gained a better idea of police work, broadened their horizons, realised their potential and equipped themselves for serving the community upon graduation.

This year, more and more mentees welcome the attachment programme, with a total of 73 attached to various police formations for 59 projects. On October 20, they gathered at Police Headquarters for the Closing and Presentation Ceremony of the attachment programme. With a view to paying recognition of the mentees' diligence and commitment, a competition was introduced this year for them to give presentations on their observations of, and learning from, their job attachment.

Response to the presentation competition was spontaneous. After an initial screening, eight mentees were selected to present their projects and share their experiences and achievements in the ceremony.  After the presentations, an adjudicating panel comprising the Head Mentor, Assistant Commissioner Chau Kwok-leung, Deputy Head Mentor, Chief Superintendent Cheung Ching and mentors of the respective universities, picked the winners for the "Best Project" and the "Best Presentation" awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Chau encouraged the mentees to set their goals, work hard to complete their studies and serve the community after graduation.

It was announced at the ceremony that the next Police Recruitment Day cum Police Inspector Recruitment Express will be held on Sunday, December 2, at Police Headquarters, and that Mentees who will soon graduate are encouraged to participate in this annual event.

For project O/C, mentors and mentees, the Job Attachment Programme has again come to a successful conclusion
