Shek Pai Wan Estate has many elderly residents who are more vulnerable to quick cash crimes. Western District (WDIST), therefore, is launching crime prevention publicity programmes at the estate with a view to forging a close partnership with the residents in tackling such crimes with education, publicity, and intelligence and stepped up patrols.

On October 5, WDIST Commander Lam Hiu-tong, Aberdeen Divisional Commander Eugene Wright and officers of WDIST Police Community Relations Office distributed anti-deception and anti-burglary leaflets at Shek Pai Wan Estate, with the support of a member of the Southern District Council, Mr Chu Lap-wai, and the estate's mutual aid committees. This initiative succeeded in making the elderly residents more aware of the importance of staying alert to crimes.
