Other parties participating in Operation "Retriever" are Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee, District Council, Yau Tsim Mong Headmaster Associations, Parent-Teacher Associations, Correctional Services Department, Social Welfare Department, Department of Health and non-government organisations.

Being the coordinator of Project "Retriever", SP Man has earned the Rotary International Award with his leadership and strategic guidance.

Coping with adversity despite work injuries

On August 12, 2009 SGT Ling was riding a motorcycle as a traffic PC when he was knocked down and had both legs run over by an overloaded goods vehicle. As a result, he had the right leg amputated and since then underwent physiotherapy treatment for a long time. Despite this blow, SGT Ling remained upbeat and requested to be allowed to return to work in Traffic Kowloon East. He resumed work on May 31 this year and is working as a Duty Officer in the Report Room of Traffic Kowloon East.

Arresting armed thug while off duty

On the evening of May 8 this year, a man was stabbed with a knife on stairs by a young man. The victim ran into the street, with the assailant in hot pursuit. PC Tang and PC Chan Ka-ki, who were off duty, together with a citizen, immediately went to help the victim and subdued the assailant. The officers also applied first aid on the victim before he was rushed to hospital. The assailant was subsequently charged with attempted murder.

Saving life at rough sea

When Typhoon Signal No. 8 was up in the evening of July 23 this year, Police Launch No. 3 spotted a canoe with a man onboard had capsized and was drifting towards the open sea. PC Chan Siu-wah, PC Tsang and PC Wong immediately jumped into a small speedboat and went to the aid of the canoeist. Despite gusty winds and choppy sea, the officers did not flinch from their sworn duty of saving life.
