Road Safety Carnival
With the support of the Eastern District Council, Eastern District (EDIST) and the Traffic and Transport Committee of the council held the Eastern District Road Safety Carnival 2012 in Victoria Park on October 20.
Driving home road safety messages to the public at the opening ceremony were EDIST Commander Andrew Lovatt, Eastern District Officer, Mr Hui Ying-yeung; Chairperson of the Eastern District Council, Mr Chung Shu-kan; and the Chairperson and Vice-chairperson of the Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee, Dr Liu Kai-ming and Dr Lam Chi-kit respectively.
Mr Lovatt also appointed ex-Miss Hong Kong, Ms Donna Chu and over ten local personalities as the Eastern District Road Safety Ambassador and members of the Eastern District Road Safety Campaign Organising Committee respectively for promotion of road safety.
In support of the vision of "Zero Accidents on the Road - Hong Kong's Goal", the carnival succeeded in disseminating road safety messages to road users and pedestrians alike with game booths, a variety show, display of vintage cars and a booth of "Combat Drug Driving" set up by Traffic Hong Kong Island at the venue.
