The Police Mini Rugby Team made its debate in the DeA Tigerfest Mini Rugby Festival on November 4. It is the first festival the team has entered and done the Force pride.

It is also the first festival of the rugby season, giving police kids the chance to compete with children from other rugby clubs. The festival is a large family event held on Sunday mornings and offers a lot of fun. Furthermore, the festival is a very good opportunity for police kids to mix with their peers and improve skills and teamwork.

Entering the under six, seven and eight age groups, the young police players notched up impressive victories against some of the more established mini rugby clubs. All in all, it was a day filled with fun and enjoyed by all and marking another big step forward in the development of the Police Mini Rugby Team, which now has close to 150 registered players.

Mini rugby offers an excellent way for children to stay healthy, master new skills and make new friends in a safe environment. Training, conducted by qualified coaches and members of the Police Rugby Club, is open to both boys and girls up to the age of 11. No experience is required and training is held at the Police Sports and Recreation Club every Sunday from 10am to 11:30am.

There are no charges for joining the training, except for basic play kit. Those interested in enrolling their kids in mini rugby or playing rugby themselves may contact the Police Rugby Club by emailing hkprugby@gmail.com.
