Police Night underscores Force's
professionalism and social commitment

The Hong Kong Police Night for the Chest 2012 took place at Police College, comprising the Chief Executive's Night on November 23 and the Commissioner of Police's Night the following day.

The CP's Night commences after the Commissioner takes the General Salute

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, and Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung presided over at the CE's Night and the CP's Night as guests of honour respectively. Together with hundreds of guests, they watched a dazzling display of music, action and skill, all for the benefit of charity.

Jointly presented by the Force and the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the Police Night was staged to raise funds for the needy and to demonstrate Force's responsibility and commitment to engage and serve the community.

In each evening show, the college campus was transformed into a brilliantly lit stage filled with sound, light and action. The audience was treated to a 70-minute programme of golden melodies by Police Band and Auxiliary Police Band, and exciting displays by Police Dog Unit, the elite counter-terrorist Special Duties Unit, and Police Tactical Unit.

A choir of non-ethnic Chinese children from the Yaumati Kaifong Association School appeared in national dress to present a medley of songs and dances, and new police recruits showcased their discipline and marching skills in a display of silent drill.

After the evening shows, Mr Leung met the guests at a gala dinner while Mr Tsang hosted a reception to thank supporters of the Police Night, including Chairmen and members of District Fight Crime Committees, Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents, major donors of the Police Welfare Fund and Committee Members of the Community Chest.

Prior to the two Police Night evening shows, some 900 members of underprivileged groups, children and helpers from the Children's Cancer Foundation, police officers injured on duty and their families and families of Force members participating in the shows were invited to attend a special Preview Night on November 22.

The Police Night, fully sponsored by the Bank of China Charitable Foundation, raised nearly $4 million for the Community Chest.
