Smartphones and tablet computers are becoming increasingly popular. Fast upgrading of models and enhanced sophistication of operating systems have created much challenge in retrieving digital evidence from mobile devices.

To cater for the ever-increasing demand on mobile device forensics service, and to tie in with the Force's Operational Priorities 2012 for professionally handling and investigating technology crimes, the Technology Crime Division (TCD) of Commercial Crime Bureau has joined hands with Police College to organise a two-week Mobile Device Forensics Course for mobile device forensics examiners of the Force. The course also attracted two officers from the Macao Judiciary Police.

TCD invited for the first time three mobile device experts from the Cyber Terror Response Centre of Korea National Police Agency to conduct the course to further beef up the professionalism of TCD computer forensic examiners.

The course has won acclaim from the participants, particularly the two Macao police officers, who had their knowledge of mobile device forensics enhanced.

TCD Superintendent Leung Tak-kwong (centre) has called on officers to make the most of the training course
