Six officers of the Small Boat Division (SBDIV) of Marine Region spent three weeks with the Special Task Squadron (STS) of the Singapore Police Coast Guard (SPCG) on an attachment programme from October 8 to 26 with the aim of further upgrading SBDIV's capability to respond to emergencies at sea.

The core responsibilities of STS are very similar to those of SBDIV. Both have maintained a close training relationship for over a decade through annual cross training programmes.

The six officers had participated in some selected training programmes of STS, including speedboat handling, method of entry in a maritime context, tactical ship boarding, close quarter battle and contact tactics onboard vessels.  They also shared their work and experience with STS officers. What the officers had gained from the attachment programme would be of great value to SBDIV's strategic development.

Marine Deputy Regional Commander Richard Morgan visited SPCG during the last stage of the attachment programme and met the SBDIV delegation, which was led by Chief Inspector Law Ka-hong, in a closing ceremony at a SPCG base.
