NTN 'Operation Megastrength' a big help to youngsters

In the past three years, New Territories North (NTN) Region has conducted "Operation Megastrength" in summer holidays to help teenagers develop a positive outlook on values so that they would not be exploited by bad elements and would stay away from drugs and crimes.

This year's "Operation Megastrength" started in June, during which, NTN, besides continued taking enforcement actions, motivated different sectors of the local community to support crime prevention. In the past three months, NTN reached out to about 46,000 youngsters through school talks, day camps and activities organised by non-government organisations (NGO).

To acknowledge the community's active participation, NTN held a closing ceremony for the operation at NTN Regional Headquarters on November 5, with Regional Commander Chau Kwok-leung officiating. Among the large gathering of guests were chairpersons and members of the district fight crime committees In NTN Region, chairpersons of associations of school heads of secondary and primary Schools, presidents of parent-teacher associations, school principals, teachers and NGO representatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Chau thanked the local community for helping to further bring down the crimes related to violence, dangerous drugs and triad activities involving juveniles. He also called on the guests to continue support the police.
