For the further development of Knowledge Management (KM) in the Force, particularly sharing of tacit knowledge, the KM Storytelling Group sees film production as an essential tool. The Group, therefore, ran a three-day Film Production Course for a total of 22 officers from different formations in the period from August to October. An ex-officer of the Force, Mr Wu Wai-shing, now a renowned film director, conducted the training course. After obtaining film making qualifications in France and Japan, Mr Wu has taken part in a number of film and commercial productions in Hong Kong. He has also been working as a part-time lecturer for local and overseas academies. During the course, Mr Wu introduced various filming techniques, including shooting, innovative thinking and audience psychology, and arranged practical exercises for trainees to brush up their basic skills. He also arranged visits for trainees to observe commercial location shooting. A KM Administrator, Police Constable Ng Chun-sen, who had taken part in the storytelling film on "CID", pointed out that the course was very professional and the site visits were eye-opening. Another KM Administrator, Calligraphist Lau Chor-wah from Police Public Relations Branch, who had received training in scriptwriting, commented that the course, besides putting emphasis on filmmaking techniques, encouraged the trainees to develop their creativity and apply some of the techniques in daily work. KM Champion, Ms Lau Chi-wai thanked Mr Wu for providing innovative training, which, she noted, made officers more creative and innovative, and brushed up their film-making skills. ![]() |
