LTDIST hosts seminar for security guards
Lantau (LTDIST) maintains close liaison with property management companies and security guards for deterring crimes. In 2009, LTDIST rolled out "Operation FASTMARKER" to reinforce collaboration with the security sector and the Housing Authority.
Following the success of a Police and Security Guards Sector Exchange Forum held in May this year, LTDIST has extended coverage of the operation to private estates and shopping malls. On November 22, it hosted another Security Seminar for 24 security guard supervisors from six property management companies. At the seminar, the participants and police had a good exchange of views on crime prevention and access control in buildings.
The seminar updated the participants on the crime trend in housing estates, relevant laws, roles of management offices and security guards, common defects of access control, and suggestions on better access control.
The Islands District Council has praised LTDIST for enhancing the job knowledge of security guards and their awareness of security, as well as for engaging stakeholders in preventing crimes.
