Force attends 7th Symposium on Police Studies

Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung led Force delegates to attend the 7th Symposium on Police Studies of the Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao in Macao from November 27 to 29.


The annual event is held in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan on a rotation basis.  The theme of the 7th Symposium was "Strategies on the Control of Cross-Border Organised Crime".  Over 170 participants comprising police officers, experts and scholars from the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan exchanged views on combatting cross-border organised crimes.

The President of the Police Association of China, Mr Tian Qiyu; Deputy Director of the Central People's Government Liaison Office of the Macao SAR, Mr Li Benjun; Secretary for Security of Macao SAR, Mr Cheong Kuoc Va; Mr Tsang and Chairman of Taiwan Criminal Investigation and Prevention Association, Mr Henry Chen Shiang-li, delivered opening speeches at the Opening Ceremony on November 28.

During the seven plenary sessions in the two-day symposium, 29 papers were presented by the participants who focused on the theme and discussed a broad spectrum of initiatives and difficulties while facing the challenges of cross-border organised crimes, including exploring new thoughts for combatting cross-border crimes, reviewing co-operation mechanism in combatting cross-border organised crimes and discussing the challenges and opportunities brought by the i-Cloud.

Deputy Commissioner (Management) Ma Wai-luk and Director of Police College Cheng Se-lim also attended the symposium, together with 22 other Force members.
