At the 2012 Fight Crime Conference held at Police Headquarters on December 1, members of the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) and 18 District Fight Crime Committees (DFCC) exchanged views on topics related to law and order and measures to fight crime.

The Conference Chairperson, Mr Edgar Kwan, appealed to the public to work together to combat crime so that Hong Kong would continue to remain a safe and harmonious society.

A biennial event organised by the FCC, the conference provided a forum for FCC and DFCC members to exchange views on the conference theme - "Fighting Crime Together for a Safe and Secure Hong Kong". The Chief Secretary for Administration and the Chairperson of the FCC, Mrs Carrie Lam, delivered a keynote address at the conference.

Five pre-conference group discussions were held for members of the 18 DFCC to deliberate on various law and order issues, including online and commercial crimes, youth crime and youth drug abuse, "quick cash" crimes, burglary and home security, and domestic violence. The discussion groups presented the outcome of their deliberations at the conference.

Nearly 400 FCC and DFCC members attending the conference also shared views and opinions with the heads of policy bureaux and departments on the law and order situation and measures to fight crime.

Other officials attending the conference included Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing; Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung; Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok; Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng; Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Sin Yat-kin; Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Clement Cheung; Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan; and Commissioner of Police Tsang Wai-hung.
