Woman police officers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao gathered in Macao from December 3 to 5 for their 12th Tripartite Meeting. They have been meeting on an annual basis since 2001 under different themes to share work experiences and ideas and enhance liaison and co-operation.

A total of 36 woman officers from the three jurisdictions discussed this year's theme - "Efforts to combat human trafficking and implementation of measures to protect vulnerable women". Assistant Commissioner (Support), Ms Chiu Wai-yin led the Force delegation while the Deputy Director-General of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, Ms Luo Juan, and the Deputy Director of Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau of Macao, Ms Kok Fong Mei, headed the other two delegations.

The busy schedule of the three-day meeting included a seminar and visits to Macao's Fire Services Bureau and Judiciary Police.  At the seminar, the delegates shared their experiences of combatting human trafficking and implementing measures to protect women. As their law and social environments are different, each party gave a presentation at meeting, through which, plus an extensive discussion, they gained a better idea of one another's work.

During the visits, the delegates were impressed by a demonstration of a rescue operation involving a burning vehicle, given by the Fire Services Bureau. During the visit to the Judiciary Police, the Force delegates had an exchange of views with their hosts.

As it was the case with the previous tripartite meetings, the delegations cherished the opportunity to get together to renew acquaintance and sustain the partnership in fighting crimes.

The Force will host the 2013 Tripartite Woman Police Officers' Meeting.
