A total of 133 officers of Wan Chai District (WCHDIST) have been selected as winners of the "Wan Chai District Outstanding Police Officer Contest" organised by the Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) and WCHDIST with sponsorship from Home Affairs Department. The contest aimed to boost the morale of frontline officers by offering Wan Chai residents a channel to pay recognition to those who have come up with outstanding performances.

Coming mainly from Task Force Sub-unit, Miscellaneous Enquiries Sub-unit, District Investigation Teams, District Anti-triad Section and District Special Duties Squad, the officers were presented with awards at a ceremony on November 26.

The winners were picked by an adjudicating panel headed by Chairman of the Wan Chai DFCC, Mr Chan Hing-ming. The cases they have handled included burglary and theft. Some crime victims are grateful to them for bringing the culprits to justice and preventing them from suffering pecuniary loss.  Flat owners also have praised them for improving the law and order and hygiene in their buildings by wiping out drug peddling there.

After the prize presentation ceremony, the Wan Chai DFCC continued working closely with WCHDIST in fighting and preventing miscellaneous theft.  Since the beginning of this year, WCHDIST has been combatting miscellaneous theft with education, publicity, and intelligence gathering.

WCHDIST also works closely with the DFCC to publicise prevention of theft at the basketball court of Southorn Playground and remind sport players to take good care of their personal belongings.
