Crime Hong Kong Island held a two-day Integrity Management (Supervisory Officers) Workshop for over 50 officers at the ranks of Sergeant to Senior Inspector late last month in a bid to boost supervisory officers' management capability and sensitivity to integrity issues.

The workshop covered topics of indebtedness, misconduct in public office and undesirable association, with focus on Force policies and the roles of supervisory officers. Through case study, the participants shared their experiences and opinions of handling integrity issues.

In the view of Superintendent Leung Wing-ki from Crime Headquarters Hong Kong Island, supervisory officers should exercise proper supervision of, and offer support to, their subordinates. He pointed out that early identification and intervention would often save officers from ethical dilemmas and traps.

In response, one of the attendants, Sergeant Yu Kit-kuk, commented: "The workshop serves a practical purpose. I will keep on reminding my subordinates to live up to Force Values and the expectations of the public."

The workshop was one of the initiatives taken by the Crime Hong Kong Island Integrity Focus Group, which is composed of representatives from regional crime teams. In the past, the focus group had organised various activities to promote the integrity value, including producing integrity mugs and organising an easy mount stand competition. In the days to come, the group will take more initiatives to promote culture of integrity within its Formation.
