The Police Recruitment Day cum Probationary Inspector Recruitment Express 2012 took place at Police Headquarters on December 2, attracting about 1,700 applications.

The event provided one-stop service to applicants for the post of Probationary Inspector (PI), including initial screening related to height and weight measurements and eyesight test and scheduling of written examination, and to applicants for the post of Recruit Police Constable (RPC) with initial screening and group interview.

There were also four experience-sharing sessions for applicants so that they would have a better idea of police work and be better prepared for the subsequent selection process. The Force will identify the applicants who have personal values aligned with the Force values. Jocelyn Cheung, Chief Superintendent (Human Resources Branch), emphasised that integrity, commitment and independent thinking were the crucial competencies of the applicants.

The recruitment target for the financial year 2012-13 is 180 PIs and 890 RPCs. As at November 30, 99 PIs and 510 RPCs have been recruited. The Force will participate in the Education and Careers Expo which will be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre between January 31 and February 3, 2013.
