During the Christmas and New Year holidays, Central District (CDIST) distributed anti-drug publicity items in the bars and restaurants in Lan Kwai Fong, appealing to the general public, in particular youngsters, to stay away from drugs.

CDIST also hammered the message home with other events like the "Central District JPC Anti-drug Ambassador" programme and "Central District Anti-drug Shield Fight Crime Run". CDIST also put on anti-drug publicity banners on the streets.

With the support of the Narcotics Division, CDIST teamed up with the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN), Central and Western District Council, Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee and Central District Junior Police Call (JPC) in disseminating anti-drug messages in the bars and restaurants in Central before the holidays started.

Joining the anti-drug publicity drive in Lan Kwai Fong were Commissioner for Narcotics, Mrs Erika Hui; ACAN Chairman, Prof. Daniel Shek; Chairman of Central and Western District Council, Mr Yip Wing-shing; Central and Western District Officer, Ms Cheryl Chow; Chairman of Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Thomas Ng; Chairman of Central District JPC Honorary Presidents' Council, Mr Lam Pak-cheong; and CDIST Commander Kwok Yam-shu.

Mr Yip appealed to the owners and staff of restaurants and bars to alert police if they come across any drug-related activity, while Mr Lam, led the "Central District JPC Anti-drug Ambassadors" to chant the anti-drug slogan of saying "No" to drugs.

Handing out anti-drug publicity items to customers, Mr Ng also reminded them to take care of their belongings. Mr Tommy Li, a District Fight Crime Committee member and consultant of the Central and Western District Tourism Committee, took the opportunity to promote local tourist attractions in Central and Western District to the tourists in the restaurants and bars.
