KWTDIST fraud prevention project pays off |

| In a bid to prevent
telephone fraud, Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) started assigning last
July an officer as liaison officer for the banks and moneychangers in
the District. The liaison officers brief the bank staff on the trend of
deception and conmen's modus operandi, advise them on how to identify a
potential victim, and seek their co-operation in alerting the police if
they come across a suspected fraud case. This project has paid off with bank staff and moneychangers helping the police prevent deception cases. As a result, Tsing Yi Divisional Commander Yau Kwok-keung called at a bank in Cheung Hong Estate last December 27 and presented certificates of appreciation to two staff members for their alertness in thwarting two deception cases and saving the potential victims from suffering financial loss.
