At the
meeting, Police Public
Relations Branch Chief Superintendent (CSP) Wong Kwok-wai followed up
the matters arising from the last AGM and reported on JPC's
developments and projects in past years, including activation of the
on-line booking system for the JPC Man Yee Activity and Training
Centre, joint district programme activities, events held by the JPC
Advanced Leader Council, and the exchange activities carried out
overseas and on the Mainland. CSP Wong also introduced JPC projects in
the pipeline as well as a pilot scheme of JPC Leader Corps.
At the same time, the Chairman of the JPC Central Advisory Board (CAB),
Assistant Commissioner Lau Yip-shing, answered many questions from the
floor and outlined JPC's future development strategies in terms
of quantity and quality.
The Annual Lunch that followed the AGM was graced by the presence of
the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, and Commissioner Tsang
Wai-hung.
In his speech, Mr Lai said he was glad to attend the lunch in the
capacity of the JPC Chief Honorary President. He pointed out that
membership topped 200,000, including 1,700 Non-ethnic Chinese members,
since JPC was established 38 years ago. Noting that JPC remains one of
the largest youth groups in Hong Kong, he attributed this success to
the efforts and hard work of Force members and JPC members, as well as
the big support of JPC Honorary Presidents and volunteers.
Mr Lai also presented certificates of appreciation to JPC Honorary
Presidents who have served JPC for 25 years and JPC volunteers who have
individually chalked up over 200 hours of voluntary service for JPC
training and activities.
At the same time, Mr Tsang presented a certificate of appointment to a
supplementary member of the CAB, Senior Superintendent Joseph Tung, and
an appreciation letter to an outgoing member of the CAB, Chief
Superintendent Au Yeung Chiu-kong, for his contribution to the JPC
scheme for years.
Mr Tsang also presented certificates of appreciation to school clubs
and teachers, Honorary Presidents who have served JPC for 20 years and
