OPS Wing officers visit AFP |
||
Four Operations Wing officers, Superintendent Ken Yeung of Key Point Search Division, Chief Inspector Larry Chan and Senior Inspector (SIP) Nick Pearson of Counter Terrorism Response Unit and SIP Bryan Cheng of Force Search Cadre, recently spent a week with the Australian Federal Police (AFP). The programmes of the visit offered the officers an eye-opening experience. Their attachment programme included an intensive participation in tactical training with AFP's newly amalgamated Specialist Response Group. The training covered wide ranging aspects, including firing of different kinds of weapons, handling of an "active shooter" scenario, AFP's use of force spectrum, control of violent persons, bomb disposal, sniping skills and rope training in handling protesters at height. The officers gained first hand experience in the skills that brought them new horizons of tactics. The officers also took part in presentations and discussions on Australian Capital Policing, critical infrastructures protection, major event planning, canine capability, and protective services for VIP, as well as visits to command centres, Parliament House and Government House. The visit programme was designed with counter-terrorism and operational perspectives, enabling the officers to gain a great deal of conceptual and practical expertise. In the views of the officers, the visit was very successful, during which they forged closer ties with AFP officers, which will strengthen the global networking of the Force. They are thankful to the AFP Hong Kong Liaison Officer for organising the visit. ![]() |
