The Administration Bureau Hong Kong Island Region (ADM HKI) has rolled out a series of activities in a bid to enhance the professionalism of officers and boost their ability to meet challenges. One of the activities was a sharing session for 50 HKI FITSOs, held on February 5. At the session, Chief Inspector (CIP) (SCU IS) Lin Sean, drew the officers' attention to the risks they might come across while using common terminals. Therefore they should not save files containing sensitive and personal data on common terminals, use default passwords in PEN accounts and download unauthorised software, and should update the virus definition of anti-virus software. CIP Lin's presentation drew many questions from the floor. One of the participants, Senior Inspector Ng Ka-hong commented: "The sharing session gave me a better idea of the things I've to watch out while using common terminals, and offered practical solutions to errors." "Police officers, during the course of their work, often come across confidential and personal information. Negligence in using common terminals could lead to leaks of such information, affecting public confidence in the Force," commented SIP Sung Chi-tat. To heighten awareness of Integrity Management and promote Force Values, ADM HKI has organised a "HKI Integrity Management Poster Design Competition" and reproduced the prize-winning entries for distribution to formations. The gold medal winner, Emergency Unit Sergeant Cheung Wing-kin commented: "The poster design competition offered a platform for us to understand better what integrity management and corruption prevention are all about. It also disseminated the related messages to other officers." In addition, ADM HKI held a seminar on prudent financial management and Mandatory Provident Fund on March 6 and invited financial professionals to attend. After attending the seminar, PC Lam Chung-hang of Chai Wan Division said: "Officers showed a lot of interest in financial management and asset allocation and shared a lot of experience and observation." ADM HKI Superintendent Terence Young thanks officers for attending the above activities. He said Regional Welfare Officers would be invited to attend the forthcoming "HIO Sharing Session", which aims at giving officers a better picture of other issues. ![]() |
