RAILDIST honours vigilant passengers |

Maintaining the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) as one of the world's safest railway networks is the primary responsibility of Railway District (RAILDIST). In discharging this duty, RAILDIST relies heavily on the active participation of passengers in the fight against crime. To commend citizens for their courageous acts while travelling on MTR, RAILDIST presented the first Vigilant Passenger Award on February 6, which serves as an incentive to motivate eyewitnesses to come forward to report crime and work hand in hand with the Police to safeguard the railway system. At the presentation ceremony, RAILDIST Commander Tam Chak-hang presented certificates and cash awards to three vigilant passengers in recognition of their quick-witted and courageous acts. ""Engaging the Community" is one of the strategic directions of the Police Force. On witnessing a crime, citizens should stay calm and come forward to report it to the Police when it is safe to do so. RAILDIST will continue to enlist the support of passengers to ensure the safety of the railway system," said Mr Tam. ![]() |
