Nine officers pull off SMPDIST Outstanding Police Award
Nine officers have won the "Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) Outstanding Police Award 2012". Jointly launched by Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee and SMPDIST, the award scheme aims at commending outstanding police officers in SMPDIST with a view to enhancing police-community co-operation, boosting police morale and gaining public recognition of police work.
An officer nominated for the award scheme, at the ranks of Police Constable to Senior Inspector, must show exceptional courage, a high degree of professionalism, resolve, and skills in handling incidents or problems. Many nominations were received, including those from the public, district councillors, and division commanders.
Eventually a selection committee comprising Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Mr Chow Yiu-ming, Chairperson of the Community Education Programme Group of the committee, Ms Leung Fu-wing, and Chairperson of the committee's Youth Education Programme Group, Ms Ma Ka-wai, picked nine officers in Sau Mau Ping Police Station on February 5.
At the SMPDIST Lunar New Year Celebration-cum-Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Inauguration Ceremony on February 22, Mr Chau and his committee members presented certificates of commendation to the winners.
